If you are unfamiliar with Asian pears, you've got to try Drippin' Honey. Unlike European pears (like Bartlett and Seckel),Drippin' Honey has excellent crisp flesh that holds in refrigeration for a longer period than the soft flesh of "traditional" pears. Similar in shape and texture to apples, but crisper and juicier. Excellent sweet flavor—an absolutely refreshing treat for dessert. Huge, globe-shaped fruit is 4 in. in diameter and anywhere from 1/2 to over a lb. Expect harvests of 3-6 bushels beginning in the third year. Ripens mid October. Zones 5-8.
