Deciduous 6- to 10-ft. shrub bears clusters of scarlet red flowers in spring. Reddish-bronze foliage appears later and matures to a deep, glossy green. Tart, 2-in. long fruit can be harvested in fall to make jams and jellies. Does well in full sun to part shade. Zones 4-8. 12-18 in. bareroot.
We have a few of these beautiful shrubs in our yard and, all around our little town. The stunning sweet blooms announce the beginning of spring in full shade or full sun! They are now starting to produce fruit for the first time. I can't wait to try them!
