Very large hardneck bulb contains 4-5 large, easy-to-peel cloves. White wrappers have delicate purple stripes. Very best in taste without all the heat and a good hardneck keeper—does well in any climate! This variety should be fall planted.

Sun/Shade: Full sun.
Restricted States: AK GU HI ID PR WA
Spacing: 2-4" in rows 6" apart.
Depth: Divide bulbs into cloves and set 1-2 inches deep; plant flat side down.
Yield: 40 pounds per 100 foot row.
Comments: Fertilize with 10-10-10 at rate of 2-3 lbs per 100 square feet before planting. Cloves can be planted 4-5 weeks before last Spring frost. Shallow cultivation and mulch will aid in controlling weeds. Water frequently to keep top 6" of soil moist. When plants have 5-6 leaves apply 1/2 cup of 10-10-10 fertilizer for each 10' row. Scatter fertilizer along rows, so not to touch plants. Then scratch fertilizer into soil with rake. In late Summer, when tops begin to yellow, bend plants over with a rake. Dig bulbs up when tops are completely brown and dried. Allow bulbs to cure in garden for several days, unless the weather is wet. To store, peel off outer papery layers of skin and store in a mesh bag in a cool, dry, dark location. Not for braiding.
