Comments: Special considerations: Mound the topsoil and spread the roots over the mound and cover them with 2 inches of soil. Fill in the trench as the plants grow. Remove weeds by hand or by shallow cultivation. Asparagus is a heavy feeder that requires regular applications of fertilizer. Apply 10-10-10 fertililzer; 3-5 lbs per 100 squae feet in the Spring before growth starts. 2 and 3 year old crowns can be lightly harvested the second year after planting. One year old crowns can be lightly harvested the third year after planting.
