Flash Hybrid Collards

Flash Hybrid Collards

Very upright leaves with bolt resistance.

Vigor produces the uniform, smooth, dark green leaves. Unlike Vates, leaf growth is very upright, making it easy to single-harvest for bunching. Can also be stripped of bottom leaves, leaving top leaves to grow. In mild regions, like the Coastal South, stripping instead of bunch-cutting will allow collards to produce all winter. Nearly as bolt resistant as Champion; much more resistant than the Georgia types. 75 DAYS.

  • Depth: 1/4 - 1/2 inch,
  • Sun/Shade: Full sun to partial shade.

  • Pruning: All green parts of the plant are edible and may be harvested at any time during the growing season. Plants grown 6 inches apart can be cut at ground level when they reach 6 to 10 inches in height. As an alternative method of harvesting, you can pick the large leaves when the plants are 10 to 12 inches high. This harvesting method allows the younger leaves to develop for later use.
  • Yield: Very high yielding.
  • Comments :
Vates-type collard has smooth, attractive dark green leaves with a mild, sweet flavor. Upright, open plants have excellent resistance to bolting. This hybrid variety has amazing uniformity and is very vigorous, offering repeated heavy harvests with quick regrowth.
