Smaller than other varieties, these new cultivars from Denmark grow just 6-8 ft. tall. In early summer, tiny white flowers cover the vigorous plants. In late summer, it bears large clusters of small purple-black berries. Use fruits for wines and cordials, juices, jellies and jams. Plant Samdal and Samyl together for improved pollination. Zones 3-7. No. 1, 1-yr. plants.

Spacing: 3 - 6 ft between plants. 10 - 12 ft between rows.
Depth: Plant at same depth as grown in the nursery, all roots should be well covered. Keep soil moist throughout the establishment period. Between flowering and through harvest make sure it is gets 1 inch of water.
Spread: 2 - 5 ft
Yield: High yield.
Comments: Vigorous plants. Larger fruit clusters than Sambucus Canadensis. Produces new suckers annually. Berries have high anthocyanin content- very good for you! Elderberry is widely touted as a cold remedy.
