  • Height: 20 feet for standard, 6 feet for Li'l BIG.
  • Spacing: 25 feet for standard, 6 - 8 feet for Li'l BIG.
  • Depth: Plant with the graft 2 inches above the soil line.
  • Spread: 22 feet for standard, 4 - 6 feet for Li'l BIG.
  • Sun/Shade: Full Sun.
  • Color: Light pink to white blossoms.
  • Foliage: Dark green leathery foliage.
  • Blooms: Mid Spring.
  • Form: Deciduous, upright
  • Flower Form: Yes.
  • Soil Requirements: Well-drained moist soil, with good organic material.
  • Growth Rate: Medium growth rate.
  • Pruning: Prune December to February. There are normally two goals when pruning an apple tree: 1. Initially on young trees to encourage a strong, solid framework 2. On mature trees to maintain shape and encourage fruit production. The best time to prune apple trees is in late Winter or very early Spring before any new growth starts.
  • Fruit: Gold background with red-orange striping.
  • Pollinator: Another mid-season blooming apple, partially self fruitful. Liberty, Fuji, Goldrush, most crab apples.
  • Yield: Approximately 6 - 12 bushels at maturity for standard, 1/2 bushel for Li'l BIG.
  • Comments :
    Flesh is very crisp, firm, juicy, dense, aromatic, subacid. Vigorous tree must be heavily thinned for proper fruit size. Is a good pollinator. Apples store well up to 2 months. Developed in New Zealand (introduced to U.S. in 1965), excellent quality, good keeper, very popular with growers and consumers. U.S. plant patent # 3637. Hardy where temperatures do not go above 100 degrees F. for long periods. Very susceptible to fireblight. RESTRICTED STATES, AE, AK, GU, HI, PR.
