Its finely dissected, grey-green leaves provide a pretty backdrop for the blue flower panicles. The leaves are aromatic when crushed, and the flowers attract butterflies. Whether massed or grown as a specimen plant, Russian Sage is sure to delight. This 1995 Perennial Plant Association Plant of the Year is deer resistant and drought tolerant. Grows best in full sun. Zones 4-9.

  • Growth Rate: Moderate to fast depending on warmth.
  • Pruning: Cut back in early spring. Can prune back all the way to the lowest bud. Late winter, early spring.
