You'll be enchanted by the dozens of tiny, speckled, orchidlike blooms that cover this unusual mixture in late summer and early fall. Plants are easy to grow with sturdy stems of ladderlike foliage that grow 24-36 in. tall with very little effort. Perfect for the back of a shady border, rockeries, darkened corners of a cutting garden or naturalized areas. Toad Lilies fill the space left behind by early-season perennials and mix nicely with other shade plants such as hosta and ferns. Exceptional bloomers that boast a long flowering period and provide often-neglected shaded sites with unique 1-1½ in. blooms that are white and speckled with rich purple. Zones 5-8.
