Vardaman Sweet Potato

High yield on a small plant.

  • Compact, bush habit
  • Can be grown in containers
  • Gold skins and orange flesh
If you love sweet potatoes, but don't have lots of space, Vardaman Sweet Potato is an ideal choice. Named after the sweet-potato growing town in Mississippi, Vardaman has a compact bush habit with no runners. The sweet potato plants can be spaced 12 inches apart in rows only 3 feet apart. The plants yield golden-yellow skinned roots with a deep bright red-orange flesh that is wonderful baked, boiled or fried. Sweet potatoes are a warm-season vegetable and should be planted about 3-4 weeks after the last spring frost. 100 DAYS.
