best for northern growers

This berry is highly recommended for northern growing--or anywhere. The care is so simple--no trying to figure out which canes to prune---just cut them all to the ground in late fall or early spring when dormant. The berries are produced on the current year's new growth. They are huge berries, taste wonderful, and produce TONS over a long period, late summer to early fall! And the best part is that they multiply incredibly fast. Each year you can double your patch if you dig the runners. Side note: yes, you can leave the previous year's canes to get a small summer crop as well, but in my experience, it wasn't worth the effort. It is much simpler to just mow 'em all, and wait for the fall crop.

Heritage Raspberry is good in heat too.

This raspberry did well in the Texas heat as long as it is watered well. I am impressed by the high yields from early on until frost which for us was 5 or 6 months of berries since I did not mow the canes down.
