Consort Black Currant

Consort Black Currant

A tasty vitamin C powerhouse!

Consort Black Currant is a delightfully sweet-tart fruit that has excellent flavor and a high concentration of vitamin C. Plus, it is highly resistant to white pine blister rust, a problem for many currant varieties. Consort bears plentiful clusters of medium-sized black berries—more than enough for fresh eating, baking into pastries and muffins, and processing into flavorful jams and jellies. Plants grow 3-6 ft. and prefer full sun, though they will still produce fruit in part shade. Zones 3-7.

This plant will survive cold winters, low water and cats. Does well with more water and fertilizer, what plant won't? I have mine in a partial shaped spot. Birds love berries, so protect or pick. will produce well.
