Interesting sweet flavor is excellent for fresh use. Smaller fig size than others, but is a reliable producer of large crops because it is very cold tolerant. Amber-colored flesh has fewer seeds than others. Well adapted to humid, rainy areas of Southeastern states. Bareroot. Zones 7-10.

Product Details

  • Botanical Name: Ficus carica 'Hunt'
  • Height: 15 - 20 ft
  • Spacing: 15 - 18 ft
  • Depth: Place the plant in the hole at the same level it was grown by the nursery. This is where the roots start and the tops shoots begin. Spread the roots out evenly. Gently work the soil around the roots do not pack the soil. Water plant thoroughly.
  • Spread: 15 - 18 ft wide
  • Sun/Shade: Full sun
  • Foliage: green leaves with 3 - 5 lobes
  • Flower Form: inconspicuous flowers (hidden inside the bud)
  • Soil Requirements: Rich, moist, well-drained soil
  • Pruning: Do not require regular pruning once established. Prune figs trees annually during the first three growing seasons to establish desired shape. Best to prune immediately after the main crop is harvested in early fall.
  • Fruit: Large, long-necked violet brown fruit with light red flesh.
  • Pollinator: Self fertile
