Product Details

  • Botanical Name: Fragaria ananassa 'Ozark Beauty'
  • Height: 8 - 10 inches
  • Spacing: 12 - 24 inches.
  • Depth: Set with crowns just below soil level (where the roots meet the leaves).
  • Spread: 8 - 12 inches
  • Sun/Shade: Full sun
  • Foliage: Rich, thick green foliage.
  • Blooms: May - August
  • Form: Mounding/Spreading
  • Flower Form: White blossoms.
  • Soil Requirements: Moist, well-drained, slightly acidic, sandy loam soil.
  • Growth Rate: Moderate growth rate.
  • Pruning: Root only 5 or 6 runners from each plant and remove the rest. Arrange the runners to the ground and plant and remove the rest. Arrange the runners so they're about 6 inches apart. Everbearers should not bear fruit with the first flush of flowers since they need their strength to establish the main plant and to sprout runners. Pinch or cut off the first flowers that form, allowing the flowers later in the season to produce fruit.
  • Size: 1/2 + inch flowers.
  • Fruit: Large, firm, wedge-shaped, long-necked berries up to 4 inches; bright red fruit inside and out.
  • Pollinator: Self pollinating.
  • Yield: Approximately 1 - 2 pints.

This berry grew nicely in the Texas heat. It sent out runners well and I am on my third year of the growing these from the original plants. They are a little small in size as a berry but the flavor was wonderful! We got some berries in January placing them in the greenhouse in winter. Hearty and yummy!

I purchased this variety several years ago. The plants established quickly and grew well. Was able to spread from runners. They wintered well in southern kansas. Nice large berries from the first year. Will re-order.
