Comments: Large taproot. Hard to transplant. Tree is high branching and has shaggy bark. Sweet and very edible nuts. May not bear nuts until 7 - 10 years of age. Nuts are favored for baking. Do not fertilize when first planted, unless it is a slow release fertilizer in pellet form. Mulch around the tree 4 - 6 inches to retain moisture in the soil. Water 1 - 2 times weekly.
